Looking for a lightweight and affordable solution to your chat or comment system? Need something that allows anyone to reply without adding all the overhead? Simply copy and paste two lines of code on your website and immediately allow any of your readers to comment on your blog post. The script is less than 5kb minified without user comments and we take care of the log and overhead for you!
Most bloggers and developers have yet to actually find a comment system they love. The comment system is one that is quite underrated and a new trend, starting around 2015, saw many popular news and blogging websites remove their comment system completely for a variety of reasons including a lack of desire to communicate with fans or followers, too many negative remarks, too many opinions in one place, too many spammers, or just not enough attention to the comment service.
Putting it bluntly: the comment systems are awful — no brands mentioned — and while comments are beloved on social media, they have a harder time finding their place on our regular daily websites and frequented Internet zones. Many of these same websites chose to focus on establishing more of a loyal audience within their own social media groups, publishing articles, and preferring Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or even LinkedIn to manage the comments from loyal audiences.
While comments still thrive on the Internet, it would be far less appealing to not be able to express ourselves at all or not know what others are thinking. Despite knowing all this, the average comment system is still lacking the main focus it deserves. Many developers have brought in their own ideas and concepts for what they believe their users want and some do get parts of the system right.
Take Hacker News, for example, which has a threaded and upvote/downvote comment system that has worked very well for the website and has even earned their news section specifically a PageRank of 8, being one of the most popular places to visit on the Internet, with an exceptional comment section, which has proven as phenomenal as Reddit. But the average blog or news website is not Reddit or Hacker News, and therefore, may not need the threaded or upvote/downvote comment system, but rather something even more simple.
A look into about a dozen comment services that are available as a service or for self-hosting reveals that many are either:We have scoured many comment services and while there were just a few that turned out to be okay to use, that we would actually place on our own websites, most were not ideal for our situation, which was to have a service where registration was not necessary, a captcha was in place, and to be able to provide the visitor with the ability to leave a comment or engage in a discussion without having to go through a whole registration process.
We also decided not to include a point system, a ranking system, a sharing individual comment feature, and our chat service does not link any social media or provide any cookies to third-parties. Replies were kept simple rather than tiered.
After all, keeping visitors on your page for more than a minute is hassle enough. Getting them to comment on something you wrote or are doing is challenging enough. The last thing you really want to do after writing an exceptional blog article is worry about how your readers can engage with you.
After a while, we just developed the basic service we needed and are offering it to you.

What is this service?
minchat is a simple comment system or chat service designed to allow anyone to interact with you.
Why do I need this service?
If you run a blog or a website, it is quite nice to allow your readers to interact with you and chime in with their opinions
on whatever you might be talking about.
What inspired you to build a comment service?
We had been using a very basic javascript comment form for MyPost, our blogging platform, that wrote to text files and allowed anyone to make a comment, and it only required a few lines of javascript and some placement of HTML and CSS code. Up until two years ago, it had been working great, but upon further examination of our blogging platform and the comment system, it appeared to be broken, and the code had not been updated in many years.
We made efforts to update the code several times over those past two years, but it was just too outdated and no longer supported by the original creator nor could we continue to justify any further attempts to work on it. Thus we set out on an adventure to find a good comment system that was similar to the one we had been using.
After trying several comment systems, we decided it would be best to build our own to suit our basic needs.
How do I use the service?
After signing up, start by designing your comment system, adding the custom features you need and generating a code for it. You will need to place two codes:
The code will look something like this:
Can I use the same comment system on multiple pages of my website?
You can choose to show the comment system as a single point of contact, or a universal conversation, across your website or you can count
every page as a unique page with its own comment system.
Is my email address ever shown?
The email address is an optional field that can be enabled on minchats and is only for the eyes of the owner of the minchat and cannot ever
be revealed or displayed to the public.
Why use your service over others?
If you want to use our service, great. We will strive to the best and the most useful and relevant to many standard websites or business websites that need a basic communication system. We decided not to implement many of the "over-the-top" features nor bother with actual registrations, specifically those that deal with social media login services, as placing those on your website alone may slow it down or may stir up general privacy conerns.
We also knew what we wanted in a comment service that just works out of the box without too much confusion.
As a company, NoteToServices builds many products first and foremost for its own purposes and then shares the usage of these services with others. So our focus is not on getting the most money from you because you ran over your limit of visitors who did not even leave any comments, and you're left wondering how you reached the maximum limit of 20,000 pageviews, a quarter of which were just the routine visits by bots. If your website, for great reason happens to go viral, then forget about having a working comment system that would have received a ton of potential comments, but since you reached your limit because of pageviews—not comments—no one can comment, which is hardly serving the purpose of a comment service.
We know how hard it is to get your visitors to comment which is why our primary focus is on delivering an interrupted comment service to you and your visitors.
Finally, we are one of the only services to offer deep discounts upon signup. Take advantage and save yourself a ton of money!
What other uses does this service have?
We had suggested so far that minchats could be used as a comment or a chat service,
but it is a multipurpose communication tool. Just to mention a few more uses:
How much does it cost to use the service?
We kept affordable in mind, so the first cost is free, with limitations. There is a Pro plan offered
without any limitations, while limited to a single domain (with the ability to add more) or an Unlimited Pro plan offers the same thing as
the Pro plan, but with unlimited domains. It is definitely recommended that you hop on one of the Early Bird Special discounts!
How many minchats can I have on my website?
With the comment function feature, you can select either domain or individual pages, and have as many minchats as you wish.
Can I add more domains on the Pro Plan?
You can add as many domains as you wish on any Pro Plan.
Can I use minchat on multiple domains?
With the unlimited domains features, you can add to as many domains as you need.
Why can't I delete comments or my minchat?
If you are on the free plan, 1,000 comments is the limitation and you will be unable to delete any comments or remove
your minchat.
How do I temporarily disable my minchat?
Remove the minchat metatag script from your website and it will be disabled.
Can I change my minchat domain?
Changing a domain once a minchat has been added is not possible.
Does my domain have to be secure?
Our service uses Cloudflare to regulate and secure our traffic so it is required that your website is also secured with https or SSL
for a secure connection end-to-end. If your website is not secure, it is unlikely that the minchat will work.
What information do you collect when I use this service?
While we may review data from time to time to understand how our comment service is being used, types of websites it is on,
types of audiences and comments it is engaging in, we do not sell any of this data to third parties.
What billing service do you use?
We proudly use Stripe for our payment processing system.
How am I billed?
Under the Billing section, add or update your credit card. Once a credit card is on file, navigate to the
Settings section, select the plan you want to be on. Changes will take effect immediately.
You be prorated or charged accordingly on your next billing cycle depending on the plan you have chosen.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
In Settings, you may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time and you are prorated for all plans except when reverting to the free plan.
Can I cancel my plan?
You can cancel your plan at any time. Since all plans run from month to month, your billing cycle will end the following month from the previous billing cycle, and your service plan will not renew, defaulting to the Free plan. If you are on a yearly plan, your next billing cycle will not renew.
What happens if I downgrade my service from Pro to Free?
Existing minchats will not allow any new comments and only display only up to 1,000 existing comments.
What happens after I hit the maximum comments on the free plan?
The minchat will will display up to 1,000 comments but still be completely functional.
Which plan should I sign up for?
As we stated earlier in the FAQ, we scanned the Internet looking through multiple comment services to understand what was out there. In our
efforts to understand the pricing system, we came up with several reasonable prices and plans.
Our recommendations are:
Plan | Domains | Prominent Feature | Usage Type |
---|---|---|---|
Free | 1 | Up to 1,000 comments, limited functionality | Micro to small blogs and websites |
Free Plus | 1 | Unlimited comments, limited functionality | Small blog or small business website |
Free Plus Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited domains and comments, limited functionality | Multiple small blogs and websites |
Pro | 1+Unlimited | Unlimited domains comments, full access | Medium to large blogs and websites |
Pro Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited domains and comments, full access | Multiple medium to large blogs and websites |
What do I do if I cannot place a meta tag?
While we generally recommend that you place our meta tag before the </head>, simply place it anywhere on the page, and our system will do a deep scan to detect it.
Do you have a WordPress plugin?
We do not offer a WordPress plugin as our script may not work with every theme. However, you may add a plugin that allows for javascript and place our script on each individual page. We cannot guarantee full support for WordPress.
Do you offer refunds?
We do not offer any refunds as there are no contracts and our primary service is month-to-month. Cancel any time and your subscription will not renew the following month.
Are there any SEO benefits to using the minchat service?
A script is generated and displays the content on your website. Comments having any real SEO value depend on what type of content the comment provides. If you opt to use the embed code, SEO benefits may be limited.
Can I store images and display images on minchat?
minchats.com does not offer any image or file storage, but you can use our other service, BinCDN if you are looking for storage. However, if you have enabled HTML on your minchat, you will be able to use the or [img] tags to display the image by providing a URL path.
